# ServiceNow MCP server for AI agents.

actionlake is an MCP gateway: one remote MCP server that connects Claude and other MCP clients to ServiceNow and the rest of your systems. It gives your agent 126 ServiceNow actions (50 reads, 51 writes and 25 that wait for a confirmation) and holds the ServiceNow credential itself, so the agent never does. It paces ServiceNow's limits and records every call.

[Connect ServiceNow free](https://actionlake.com/console?start=sandbox) [See pricing](https://actionlake.com/pricing)

100,000 free calls a month. No card, no email, no password: press Start a free sandbox on the next screen and keep the key it shows you.

`claude mcp add --transport http actionlake https://connect.actionlake.com/mcp`

the first call

```
do {
  action: "servicenow_table.incidents.list",
  intent: "check which ServiceNow account is connected"
}
# List ServiceNow incidents · read · 1 upstream call
```

- 126 actions in one signed file
- 50 read look, never change
- 51 write create and update
- 25 wait for a yes destructive, confirmed first

Set up

## Connect ServiceNow in three steps.

1. 01
   ### Add actionlake to Claude.
   Run the command once in Claude Code; its consent page can create a free sandbox: 100,000 calls a month, no card. In the Claude app, add a custom connector with the URL below and paste your key on the consent page. Creating a new sandbox from the Claude app is not yet tested by us.
   `https://connect.actionlake.com/mcp`
2. 02
   ### Connect ServiceNow.
   Username and secret. No consent screen: your agent can connect it for you, but the key then passes through your chat. To keep it out of the model's context, paste it in the console instead. actionlake stores what you paste write-only, sealed under your tenant's key.
   - `username` ServiceNow integration user
   - `password` That user's password
   - `instance_host` Where your ServiceNow lives: your instance host
   ```
   account { op: "connections.requirements", service: "servicenow_table" }
   # free: exactly what to paste, and what is found for you
   ```
3. 03
   ### Make the first call. Check before a write.
   Ask in plain words; Claude picks the action. Before anything changes, `check` validates the call and prices it, for free.
   ```
   do    { action: "servicenow_table.incidents.list" }
   # list servicenow incidents · read · 1 upstream call
   check { action: "servicenow_table.incidents.create", input: { … } }
   # free: inputs, permissions, cost and confirmations, nothing sent
   ```

## The ServiceNow API, shaped for agents.

The ids your agent types, what each does, and the one name it shares with other systems. 103 of ServiceNow's 105 action names are shared with at least one other connector, so an agent learns them once.

Try it

## Prompts to paste into Claude.

Each one names the ServiceNow actions it will call, so you know what it reads and what it changes before you send it.

1. Read read
   Which ServiceNow tickets have been open the longest? Show me the ten oldest with their status.
   calls `servicenow_table.incidents.list`
2. Plan read
   Report servers, databases and their assets in ServiceNow.
   calls `servicenow_table.servers.list` `servicenow_table.databases.list` `servicenow_table.network_gear.list` `servicenow_table.hardware_assets.list` `servicenow_table.locations.list`
3. Plan write
   Onboard a user and their equipment request in ServiceNow. Ask me before anything is sent or changed.
   calls `servicenow_table.companies.list` `servicenow_table.users.create` `servicenow_table.requests.create` `servicenow_table.catalog_tasks.create` `servicenow_table.users.get`
4. Write write
   Create a ServiceNow incident in ServiceNow. Show me exactly what you will send before you save it.
   calls `servicenow_table.incidents.create`
5. Across systems read
   For each customer, how many tickets are in ServiceNow and how many invoices in ConnectWise PSA?
   calls `servicenow_table.incidents.list` `connectwise_manage.invoices.list`

Across your systems

## ServiceNow, joined to the rest of your business.

One `ask` fetches from ServiceNow and another system, joins the rows on the same customer on our side, and hands your agent the answer, not every row.

- For each customer, how many tickets are in ServiceNow and how many invoices in ConnectWise PSA?
  `servicenow_table.incidents.list` + `connectwise_manage.invoices.list`, on `crm.company` · [ConnectWise PSA](https://actionlake.com/connectors/connectwise-psa)
- For each customer, how many tickets are in ServiceNow and how many invoices in NetSuite?
  `servicenow_table.incidents.list` + `netsuite.views.invoices`, on `crm.company` · [NetSuite](https://actionlake.com/connectors/netsuite)

Also mapped by other connectors `identity.user` **517** `identity.group` **239** `crm.company` **227** `work.task` **105** `service.ticket` **62** `crm.location` **49** `asset.asset` **40** `knowledge.article` **22**

ask

```
ask {
  intent: "for each customer, how many tickets are in ServiceNow and how many invoices in ConnectWise PSA",
  steps: [
    { action: "servicenow_table.incidents.list", as: "tix", input: {}, limit: 100, max_pages: 5 },
    { action: "connectwise_manage.invoices.list", as: "inv", input: {}, limit: 100, max_pages: 5 },
    { join: {
        left: "tix",
        right: "inv",
        on: "crm.company",
        group_by: "tix.company_name",
        select: ["tix.company_name", "count(tix.id) as tickets", "count(inv.id) as invoices"]
    } }
  ]
}
```

Example. Run it through check first: it validates the steps and prices them, and it is free.

A destructive action runs only with `confirm: true`. Under the `human` policy the agent cannot confirm for itself: the run stops until a named person approves, in the console or from a signed link in an email. The cap on a key is refused before the call is sent, never after.

do servicenow_table.incidents.delete confirm_policy: **human**

Delete a ServiceNow incident?

**intent:** the user asked me to delete a ServiceNow incident

run suspended · waiting for a named person · key _servicenow-table-agent_ cannot confirm itself

In the console, or from an emailed signed link.

a key for this connector

```
account {
  op: "keys.create", name: "servicenow-table-agent",
  allowed_actions: ["servicenow_table.*"], cap_calls: 2000,
    { match: "servicenow_table.contracts.delete", approver: "lead@example.com" }
Illustrative. Scoped to ServiceNow only, capped at 2,000 upstream calls, every write confirmed, and the destructive ones approved by a named person.
Questions
## The ServiceNow MCP server, answered.
**Is there a ServiceNow MCP server for Claude?**
Yes. actionlake is an MCP gateway: a remote MCP server that gives Claude, or another MCP client, 126 ServiceNow actions, through the same eight tools it uses for every other connector. actionlake is independent; it is not made or endorsed by ServiceNow.
**What do I need to connect ServiceNow?**
ServiceNow integration user and That user's password. Plus your instance host. The free call account { op: "connections.requirements", service: "servicenow_table" } lists exactly what to paste.
**Can an AI agent delete or change things in ServiceNow?**
Only if its key allows it, and only with an explicit confirmation. 25 ServiceNow actions are destructive, including delete a ServiceNow incident, delete a ServiceNow user and delete a ServiceNow contract. Each runs only with confirm: true. Under the human confirm policy, or an approval rule on the key, the run waits until a named person approves it.
**Will an AI agent use up my ServiceNow API limit?**
actionlake paces every call to the limits in the ServiceNow service file: 3,600 calls an hour per connection. Repeated reads are answered from cache (50 ServiceNow actions can be), which never reaches ServiceNow.
**What does a ServiceNow action cost?**
One upstream call, the only unit actionlake bills. A list that pages bills one call per page (50 ServiceNow actions page).
